Visit the Blyde River Canyon and take in its beauty and if you are Feeling adventurous, then choose to experience the adrenaline rush of the worlds highest cable gorge swing with a 68 meter freefall and 0 – 160 kmh in 2.3 seconds in Graskop a little while later.
The journey from Hoedspruit to Graskop (home of the Big Swing) takes us past the Blyde River Canyon, Bourkes Luck and Gods Window, where weather permitting we will stop and marvel at the raw beauty of nature. Once we have finished this part of the journey we head to Graskop, where those with plenty of courage and little fear can join previous daredevils at taking the plunge with the Big Swing.
This is not an upside-down bungee jump, you are strapped into a full harness in an upright position. You then fall (leap screaming, get pushed by your spouse) from a platform into the beautiful Graskop gorge, attaining around 160 kmh before the bungee cord stretches to its limit and you swing across the jungle like foliage below.
Not for the faint hearted. Those less brave (and sensible) can watch and photograph the action, or shop for curios at the nearby (reached by a swing bridge) Graskop lift company. Here you can also take a glass lift down to the gorge floor for some sightseeing.
