No trip to the Lowveld is complete without paying the world-famous Hippo – Jessica a visit.
Rescued during the floods of 11th March 2000 as a calf of a few hours, she has now grown to become part of Tonie and Shirley Joubert’s family.
Sit and watch a video to learn about the amazing journey of Jessica, from calf to family member and international celebrity.
Then walk down to the river, where from a raft you can get to feed Jessica with the meal of the day and top it off with her favorite drink – Rooibos Tea.
This is a hands-on experience for the entire family and certainly not to be missed. Sorry though gents, only the ladies get to kiss Jessica.
